Daniel Brazeau was elected municipal councillor for the municipality of Chertsey in 1984, a position he occupied until becoming mayor in 1994 – he is currently still mayor. In 2002, he was elected by his peers as prefect of the Matawinie MRC.
Mr. Brazeau is a member of a number of socio-economic committees. He is a delegate and representative on the Matawinie MRC development commission, chair of the Chertsey Urban Planning Advisory Committee and a member of the board of the Federation of Quebec Municipalities. He is also the founding president of the Matawinie local development centre and a member of the Matawinie MRC public security committee.
He is actively involved in health-related issues as a member of the board of the Lanaudière agency for the development of local health service and social service networks. Mr. Brazeau is also a member of the Matawinie CLSC-CHSLD administrative board.
After many years of political and social involvement, Mr. Brazeau is motivated by a desire to serve his fellow citizens so as to bring prosperity to the riding of Montcalm.
