Mr. Roger Gougeon was born in Drummondville on May 26, 1951 and has always lived there. He taught at the Drummondvile Cégep for more than 25 years and is also president of Gougeon & Associates, a private real estate assessment firm.
He has a degree in administration from the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières (UQTR) and a specialization in land assessment from UQTR and Laval University. He is a member of the Ordre des évaluateurs agréés du Québec (Quebec order of certified assessors).
As a teacher, he worked at the Saint-Hyacinthe Cégep and the Montmorency (Laval) Cégep in adult education, and at the Lévis Cégep as a teacher training consultant. He also served as a consultant to the Quebec Department of Education and the Collegial Education Directorate, focusing on revisions to the building assessment and evaluation technology program.
Mr. Gougeon is very involved in the life of his community. In recent years, he has served as president, vice-president and Director of the Drummond Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
From 1995 to 1999 he also sat on the board of the Hôpital Sainte-Croix as vice-president. Before that, he worked for 13 years as credit commissioner with the Caisse populaire Desjardins in Drummondville. He has also served his community as president of the Drummondville Lions Club.
