As a successful Saint John businessman, Paul Zed is the President of Summa Strategies Canada Inc., and legal counsel to Clark Drummie, a leading Atlantic Canada law firm. He is a member of the New Brunswick, Canadian, and International Bar Associations.
From 1982-84, Mr. Zed was a lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. He then became a partner in a successful Saint John law firm working in the area of corporate law, while also teaching Business Law at the University of New Brunswick Saint John.
First elected to the House of Commons in 1993, Mr. Zed’s parliamentary experience includes serving as chairman of three key parliamentary committees: Industry, Government Operations, and Procedure and House Affairs. In 1996, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.
Mr. Zed graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and also completed a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of Enterprise Saint John, Special Olympics Canada, the Saint John United Way, and is Co-Chair of “Leaders of the Way” campaign. He also serves on the Lily Lake Pavilion Restoration Committee.
Mr. Zed lives in Rothesay, New Brunswick with his wife Judith and their four children.
