Willison, Martin

Martin Willison, 60, is the Green Party of Canada's Fisheries and Oceans critic. Martin is a university professor of science and developed a university course called Nature Conservation. He has also held various senior administrative posts within the university. Martin is also a non-governmental organization activist. He has worked as an activist with the Ecology Action Centre, and has helped to create new science-based conservation organizations at local and national levels. Martin was a longtime NDP member prior to joining the Green Party during the run-up to the federal election in 2000. As a teenager, Martin was a member of the British Labour Party. Martin was born in England and moved to Canada in 1974 to conduct research at Dalhousie University, and stayed on to become a professor of biology and environmental studies. Martin is married to Marjorie, from Hanna, Alberta, and they have two daughters, Meghan and Kate.
