Mike Savage grew up in Dartmouth, graduating from from Dalhousie University in 1980 with a Bachelor Degree in History.
Active in the community, Mr. Savage is a past President of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada from 1998-2003. He was also the founding President of the Dartmouth Chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Mr. Savage has been a supporter of literacy through his involvement with Dartmouth Book and Writing Awards and the Peter Gzowski Golf Tournament for Literacy.
He is currently involved with community organizations such as Junior Achievement, The Red Cross and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. He was President of the Halifax Executive Association in 1995-1996 and is a member of the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce. He is an immediate past-President of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party.
Mr. Savage was General Manager of S. Cunard & Co., a home-heating retailer in Nova Scotia. In August 1997, he accepted the position of Sales Manager, Residential/ General Business with Nova Scotia Power Inc. Two years later, he was promoted to Director, Residential/General Business Marketing and Sales.
In April 2002, he joined Ray & Berndtson, Atlantic Canada's largest executive search firm, as Vice-President Business Development and Senior Consultant.
Mr. Savage, 43, lives in Dartmouth with his wife Darlene, daughter Emma, and son Conor.
