Wynanne Downer was born at St. John’s and moved to Stephenville Crossing as a child. She now lives in Corner Brook with her husband Don. They are the parents of three children: Adrienne, Russell and Philip.
Wynanne has worked, studied and lived in several communities in Newfoundland. She has also worked in Ottawa and England. Currently, she teaches graduate courses for Master teachers in Western Newfoundland – the most recent at Flowers Cove.
Mrs. Downer is a bilingual educator who has published works both nationally and internationally on a wide variety of topics.
As a person who believes in strengthening communities, Wynanne has been involved with numerous groups and associations, including leading an effort to secure a commitment of government to place a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
Wynanne has worked on a number of political campaigns over the years, most recently with Tom Marshall, Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Newfoundland and Labrador.
