Born and raised in Bishop's Falls, Newfoundland, Scott Simms has always been active in community and family life. He participated in cadets, public speaking, school sports, band and drama, allowing him the opportunity of representing Newfoundland on more than one occasion.
With personality, humor, and always with a desire to promote Newfoundland and Labrador, Mr. Simms delivers the latest weather conditions across Canada on the Weather Network. His pride and love for Newfoundland and Labrador has allowed him to be an effective ambassador for his home province.
He started his journalism career in Gander, Newfoundland as a radio reporter and then went on to Grand Falls-Windsor.
He participates actively in the political process, having worked on the last provincial election, and hosted numerous events at the Bishop's Falls Come Home Year Celebrations in 2000.
In his free time he enjoys spending time with his son Jackson, participating in the political process and doing charity work for various organizations.
He campaigned for Liberals in Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec, and Ontario, both provincially and federally. He was also an active campaigner for the “No” side in the 1995 Quebec referendum.
A Commerce graduate of Mount Allison University, Mr. Simms continued his education at Loyalist College, where he studied Journalism.
